People — Nicholas ‘Corky’ DeMarco

Nicholas “Corky” DeMarco, executive director of the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association (WVONGA), died suddenly at his home Thursday of an apparent heart attack, the trade association said. He was 68. DeMarco took over as the face of WVONGA in 2002, growing it from 39 to more than 225 active members. WVONGA President Kevin Ellis said the group is “truly saddened” by the news of DeMarco’s passing. “We would like to express our sincerest condolences to Corky’s family and will support them in any way that we can during these difficult times,” Ellis said. “Corky has been the face of our industry for many years. He served the association and its members with enthusiasm, professionalism and with a genuine love for the work he did on our behalf. Corky will be missed.”
