MMS to Review Shell Beaufort Sea Plan for Two Leases

Shell Offshore Inc.’s exploration plan for two leases in the Beaufort Sea has been deemed complete by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS). The agency has 30 days to evaluate the plan.

Puget Sound Energy Files $231M General Rate Case

In the midst of a proposed merger with a consortium of private equity firms in which rates were deemed unaffected, Bellevue, WA-based Puget Sound Energy (PSE) last Monday filed a $231.3 million general rate case with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. The primary reason cited for the filing was large infrastructure investments by PSE this year and last year that it needs to recover in future retail natural gas and electric utility rates.

Columbia Gas said Wednesday’s gas day will be deemed a “Critical Day” in Market Areas 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33 and 34. Based on forecasted markets, available facilities and capacity utilization, Columbia projected that all available capacity in those areas will be required to meet firm service obligations, and thus zero nonfirm capacity will be available. Shippers with primary firm or secondary priority rights will not be impacted.

Calypso Deepwater LNG Port Application Complete, Coast Guard Says

SUEZ Energy North America’s subsidiary, Calypso LNG LLC said last week that the U.S. Coast Guard has deemed complete its application for a Deepwater Port License for the company’s proposed offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility to be located off the southeastern coast of Florida.
