Southern Union Sells PA LDC, Moves to Houston, Furthers Pipeline, Midstream Role

The Sid Richardson purchase includes 4,000 miles of natural gas and gas liquids pipe in the Permian Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, about 450 MMcf/d of cryogenic processing capacity among six interconnected plants, 930 MMcf/d of high-pressure treating capacity and a gas liquids and gas marketing operation based in Houston and Fort Worth.

Atlas to Construct New 120 MMcf/d Plant in Oklahoma

Midstream operator Atlas Pipeline Partners LP said late Wednesday it will construct a 120 MMcf/d cryogenic natural gas processing plant in Beckham County, OK. The Sweetwater gas plant will be located west of the Atlas Elk City gas plant, and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2006.

El Paso Energy Partners to Buy Midstream Assets for $284M

El Paso Energy Partners L.P. (EPN) announced Wednesday that it has executed a letter of intent to purchase the Chaco cryogenic natural gas processing plant in northern New Mexico’s San Juan Basin, entered into a 20-year, fixed-rate tolling agreement to process gas for El Paso Field Services, and has agreed to buy El Paso Corp.’s 50% interest in a joint venture that owns gas pipeline and gathering systems in the Gulf of Mexico. The value of the transactions was estimated at $284 million.
