As of Friday, Northwest was requiring shippers with primarycorridor rights southbound through Kemmerer (WY) Station to flow upto 25% of their contract demand from receipt points north ofKemmerer. The percentage under a “must-flow OFO” was increased from15% previously (see Daily GPI, Nov. 20).

Pacific Northwest Primed For New Storage
The Pacific Northwest, historically a great corridor forshipping western Canadian natural gas to California’s burgeoningmarkets, is getting increasing attention for expansion ordevelopment of natural gas storage to fuel its own growth, whichhas averaged 5% annually in the 1990s. The region’s only twounderground storage facilities are in the midst of expansions, andenergy players within and outside the region are searching for newstorage prospects-under-and above-ground.
Northern Utilities Plans Maine Expansion
Bay State Gas subsidiary Northern Utilities announced plans forgas distribution service in communities along the coastal corridornorth of Portland, ME. Communities to be served include Bath,Brunswick, Topsham, Freeport, Yarmouth, and Falmouth, as well asthe towns of Sanford, and Kittery in York County. The area iscontiguous to Northern’s existing service territory, and gas ratesin expansion areas will mirror those of Northern’s existing Mainecustomers, the company said.
