Continental Resources Inc. CEO Harold Hamm said he would use asset sales and reduce activity in the Midcontinent, including the Springer Shale, to pare down long-term debt, which stood at $6.56 billion at the end of June.

Southwestern Energy Co. (SWN) CFO R. Craig Owen has resigned to take the same position at Rosehill Resources. SWN is focused on the Appalachian Basin and Fayetteville Shale, while Rosehill operates in the Permian Basin’s Delaware sub-basin. Owen has worked for SWN nearly nine years and has been CFO since 2012. Owen will remain in his position to assist with a transition through late June. SWN Senior Vice President Jennifer Stewart of tax and treasury has been named acting financial chief; she joined SWN in 2010. Owen’s departure comes after SWN spent much of 2016 in a defensive position weathering the commodities downturn; it’s since been ramping back up.

Executives with Continental Resources Inc. said the company’s expansion into Oklahoma’s stacked reservoirs has been vindicated. The plays there could add as much as 35% to Continental’s net unrisked resource potential, after seven wells completed in an over-pressured oil window showed strong initial results, they said.
