Eastern Canada May See 2.5 Bcf/d of LNG Supply in Four Years
There is a growing number of contenders trying to disprove conventional wisdom that growth of global traffic in liquefied natural gas (LNG) will largely pass by Canada. Project Rabaska in Quebec is the latest entry (see related story) and follows Irving Oil’s proposal to add LNG to its oil port at the New Brunswick capital of St. John and Access Northeast Energy’s (now Anadarko, see related story) Bear Head project for northern Nova Scotia.

Few Contenders for New CA Generation
In the midst of this week’s power alerts exacerbated byCalifornia’s shortage of electric generating capacity, theSacramento Municipal Utility District drew only three responses toa proposal put out for bids early in the summer to have a developerbuild, own and operate a natural gas-fired 500 to 1,000 MWgeneration plant on part of a 2,000-acre site owned by the nation’slargest municipal utility. The earliest the plant would beoperational would be in 2004.
