Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and Sempra Pipelines & Storage launched two separate binding open seasons Wednesday to test market interest in an expansion and extension of EnCana’s Entrega Gas Pipeline system, which Kinder Morgan and Sempra plan to buy as part of their $3 billion Rockies Express Project, planned to carry gas from the terminus of Entrega in northern Colorado more than 1,300 miles to the Clarington Hub in eastern Ohio.

CERI: Canadian Production Will Rebound But So Will Supply Costs
Despite recent sharp declines in Canadian production and exports to the United States (down 6% in March to 301 Bcf), a new analysis by the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) concludes that as long as gas supply from unconventional sources, such as coalbed methane and new basins, can be brought on stream in a timely manner, gas production in Canada can be sustained at levels higher than currently exist through at least 2025.

Despite high natural gas prices and reports of flat production throughout North America over the last five years, gas-fired electric generation in operation, construction or development reached a new all-time record in the month of March, according to a new report by Energy Ventures Analysis Inc (EVA). With the help of new projects announced within the last three months, gas-fired generation topped 305,000 MW.
