CMS Gas Transmission and Storage Co. said the Fort Union GasGathering partnership has secured all of the rights-of-waynecessary to construct its planned 106-mile natural gas gatheringsystem in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. CMS is the managingmember in the partnership, which also includes Enron Capital &ampTrade Resources Corp., Western Gas Resources and CIG Resources Co.

Maritimes Lateral to Serve Generator

Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline recently filed an applicationwith the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct,own and operate a 1.1-mile, 12-inch diameter lateral pipeline toprovide gas service to the Maine Independence Station, currentlyunder construction in Veazie, ME. The Maine Independence Station isDuke Energy Power Services’ 520 MW gas-fueled generating station.

Westcoast Consortium Wins Pemex Contract

Westcoast Energy is leading an international consortium awardeda $250 million contract by Pemex Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) toconstruct and operate a 250 MMcf/d offshore gas compression andliquids recovery facility. The facility is to be located near theexisting Akal-GR platform in the Cantarell oil field in the Bay ofCampeche, Gulf of Mexico. The project will help to recover gas fordelivery into the Mexican national pipeline system, which is beingexpanded to meet the needs of new gas distribution concessions andpower generation plants.

Texas-based Panda Energy International plans to construct a $100million, 750 MW gas-fired merchant power plant in Guadalupe Countynear Marion, TX. The maximum amount of gas the plant could use is126,000 MMBtu/d.

Dynegy Building NC Gas-Fired Generation for Duke

Dynegy Inc. – formerly NGC Corp. – plans to construct agas-fired, four-unit, 600 MW generation facility in RockinghamCounty, NC, and Duke Power, the electric utility of Duke Energysigned a letter of intent to buy the 600 MW of capacity and energygenerated by the power plant.
