Anchor Shipper Appears Close to Signing Up for New CEGT/DEGT Pipeline

It appears that CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission (CEGT) and Duke Energy Gas Transmission (DEGT) are close to signing an anchor shipper for a new pipeline that will connect CEGT’s Perryville Hub in northeastern Louisiana to the Gulfstream Natural Gas System, one of DEGT’s partially owned affiliate pipelines, the CEO of CenterPoint Energy told investors during a conference call on Thursday.

Point Comfort Pipeline Seeks Authorization to Connect Import Terminal on Texas Coast

Point Comfort Pipeline Co. LP. has filed with FERC for a 27-mile, 36-inch diameter pipeline to connect the proposed Calhoun LNG receiving terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast with inter- and intrastate pipelines in South Texas (CP05-380). An affiliate, Calhoun LNG LP., a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston-based Gulf Coast LNG Partners LP. originally filed plans for the LNG import terminal last March (CP05-91).

Western Producers Press FERC for Construction Start on Pipe to Connect Rockies, Midwest

Wyoming and Montana natural gas producers and other western business interests are urging FERC to issue “as soon as possible” a certificate to Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Co. to build its proposed 245-mile Grasslands Pipeline to carry gas from the Powder River Basin to a connection with Northern Border Pipeline and Midwest markets. They insist the project is critical to expand their access to markets and to bring the prices for their gas up to par with those of other producers across the nation.

Monterrey Line Starts Open Season

KN Energy began an open season for its a 108-mile, 24-inchMonterrey Pipeline that would connect its MidCon Texas intrastatepipeline in Starr County, TX, to Monterrey, Mexico. The open seasonbegan last week and runs through 5 p.m. CDT July 30. KN expects tostart construction of the $50 million pipeline in 1999, withcompletion projected for the second quarter of 2000. Capacity isexpected to be 275 MMcf/d, and the pipe will serve gas-fired powerplants in Monterrey, local distribution companies, large industrialconsumers as well as future market opportunities.

Tennessee Plans New Tetco Connect

El Paso Energy’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) plans a newinterconnect in Casey County, KY, to deliver an additional 200MMcf/d of gas into Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) to servemarkets in parts of Kentucky and southern Ohio. The interconnect isexpected to be in service by Nov. 1. Tennessee plans to acceptnominations at the new point for November 1998 gas flow.
