The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has released new data from 2012 that shows emissions from the state's natural gas industry remained largely flat compared to 2011 when less development was happening in the Marcellus Shale.

FERC issued a certificate Thursday authorizing Columbia Gas Transmission LLC (CGT) to build and operate a compressor station in Pennsylvania and to add compression to an existing station in neighboring West Virginia.

Millennium Pipeline Co. LLC said Monday it has received approval from FERC to construct the proposed Hancock Compressor project in the town of Hancock in Delaware County, NY. The addition of the compressor station will allow for more Marcellus Shale gas to be pumped north to demand centers in the Northeast.

In a bid to loosen the natural gas capacity constraints that are plaguing the Marcellus Shale region and wreaking havoc on associated pricing points, upgrades in the form of pipeline loops and compression upgrades are coming online virtually every week.

Portland, OR-basedNW Natural is moving ahead with preliminary design, analysis and economic assessments for the expansion of the utility’s Mist underground gas storage facility in northwest Oregon to support new generation units planned byPortland General Electric(PGE) at its Port Westward gas-fired complex. The gas utility is now finalizing a request for approval of a rate for the storage services from theOregon Public Utility Commission. The project would include development of new storage wells, a compressor station and pipelines. NW Natural is preparing budget estimates to review with PGE leading up to a mutual decision on whether to proceed. A decision is expected by the end of the year.

New pipeline and compressor infrastructure has helped boost dry gas production in West Virginia and neighboring southern Pennsylvania counties since early 2012, with more growth still expected to come in the region despite strategic shifts by oil and gas companies to more liquids-rich targets, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Tuesday.
