Total Takes Sabine Pass LNG Capacity

Total Gas & Power North America Inc. has agreed to buy the equivalent of 91,250,000 MMBtu of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually plus 13,500,000 MMBtu of seasonal LNG volumes upon the commencement of train five operations at the Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC project in Louisiana, project developer Cheniere Energy Partners LP said Monday.

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Inc. announced a potential new delivery project and the commencement of an open season to solicit binding bids for new firm deliveries to Northern Natural Gas (NNG). Southern Star has determined that it can construct facilities capable of providing firm deliveries up to 64,750 Dth/d. NNG is holding a concurrent open season to allow customers access to firm capacity on both systems. The delivery project will allow for new deliveries into NNG’s field area at Kiowa County, KS, from Southern Star’s KH Line (Line Segment 130) in the production zone. Bids for the delivery project should be submitted by 5 p.m. CDT March 27. Open season information is available on Southern Star’s electronic bulletin board at http://csi.sscgp.com. Responses to the open season will help determine if market demand economically justifies this delivery project. ANR Begins Open Season for 35 Bcf of Firm Storage

ANR Pipeline Co., ANR Storage Company and Great Lakes Gas Transmission LP (GLGT) announced the commencement of a nonbinding open season for up to 35 Bcf of firm storage service and associated firm storage-related transportation services utilizing new and/or existing storage and pipeline facilities. The STEP 2010 open season began Thursday and will close at 2 p.m. CDT on Nov. 7.

Chesapeake Delay’s Tender Offer Pending Negotiations with Canaan Management

Chesapeake Energy said Friday is has deferred the commencement of a $12 per share cash tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of Oklahoma City-based Canaan Energy Corp., pending negotiations with Canaan management. Chesapeake had announced its plan to buy the company last Monday for a total of about $55 million plus the assumption of $42 million in Canaan debt. It said its plans for the company would produce far better results than those of Canaan’s current management.

The National Energy Board (NEB) has postponed the commencement of its RH-4-2001 TransCanada PipeLines Cost of Capital public hearing until Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002. The hearing, which is expected to be long and contentious, had been slated to start Tuesday, Feb. 19. The NEB said it had decided on the postponement after considering the circumstances and arguments of the parties on a request for postponement from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
