Williams Friday announced agreements involving the sale of assets for cash proceeds in excess of $100 million. In its midstream business, Williams has completed the first sale involving a portion of its operations in Western Canada. Canadian Natural Resources Limited has purchased Williams’ West Stoddart natural gas processing plant for an undisclosed amount. The West Stoddart plant is located roughly 50 kilometers northwest of Fort St. John, British Columbia, and has a processing capacity of 120 MMcf/d.

Calpine Corp. announced it has bought the development rights tobuild, own and operate a 500 MW natural gas-fired cogen facility inPittsburg, CA, from Enron Corp. The Los Medanos Energy Center(formerly called the Pittsburg District Energy Facility) recentlywas licensed by the California Energy Commission after acomprehensive year-long environmental and technical review.Construction of the $350 million facility is underway.
El Paso Buying Share of Newark Bay Cogen
El Paso Power Services Co., a subsidiary of Houston-based ElPaso Energy, agreed to buy the interests of PSEG Global and ENPEXCorp. in the Newark Bay Cogeneration Partnership in a deal worthmore than $100 million and expected to close as early as July thismonth.

Nipsco Negotiates for Amoco Cogen Plant
Primary Energy, Inc., a subsidiary of Nipsco IndustriesInc.(NI), and Amoco are negotiating a deal to develop a naturalgas-fired cogeneration facility at Amoco’s Whiting Refinery inIndiana, NI announced Tuesday. The understanding allows the partiesto proceed closer toward final agreements. The energy produced bythe plant will be used by the Amoco refinery and other customers innorthern Indiana.
LG&E, Columbia in Cogen Venture for Aluminum Maker
Gregory Power Partners (GPP), a joint venture between LG&EPower and Columbia Energy’s Columbia Electric Corp., securedfinancing last week for a new gas-fired co-generation project nearGregory, TX, allowing the partnership to proceed with powercontract obligations with Reynolds Metal Co., the second largestU.S. aluminum producer. Terms of the financing were not disclosed.
Enron Buying Three Gas-Fired Plants in NJ
Enron Capital & Trade Resources (ECT) agreed to acquireCogen Technologies’ interests in three power plants for $1.1billion and the assumption of about $350 million in non-recoursedebt. ECT will make the acquisition through a special purposeentity in which ECT will own a 50 percent interest. The entity willinvest up to $130 million in equity, with the balance of thepurchase price funded by non-recourse borrowings provided byfinancial institutions. The transaction is expected to close inearly 1999.
