Transportation Notes

Southwest Gas said pipe maintenance being performed near its interconnect with Transwestern and El Paso is not progressing as quickly as anticipated, causing the maintenance schedule to be extended. It is anticipated that the pipeline will return to service on Thursday this week instead of Tuesday (April 14) as previously indicated, Southwest said. Deliveries into Las Vegas from El Paso and Transwestern are not available while the work continues, the LDC added.

Menace of Ike Keeps Nearly All Points Rising

With the second hurricane in as many weeks heading toward the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) production area and causing some operators to have second thoughts about continuing to repopulate their offshore facilities, prices were up at all but two points Monday. The cash market also had support from the previous Friday’s advance of 12.7 cents by October futures and the return of industrial load from its typical weekend decline.

Mayors Group Resolution Targets Global Warming

U.S. mayors took a stand against global warming-causing pollution at a conference in Miami this week, noting that fuels derived from tar sands, liquid coal and oil shale emit “even greater amounts of global warming pollution than conventional petroleum sources.”
