Williams to Handle Production Capacity from Deep-Water Giant

Williams was selected last week by a consortium of deep-waterGulf of Mexico producers to handle about 500 MMcf/d of gasproduction that is scheduled to come on stream in mid-2002. Toaccommodate the projected volumes, Williams will build, operate andown the Canyon Station, a production handling platform in the EastMain Pass area south of Mobile Bay.

Enogex Plans Harrah Processing Expansion

OGE Energy Corp. subsidiary Enogex Inc., announced plans toexpand its Harrah Gas Processing Plant in eastern Oklahoma County,doubling the plant’s capacity to 38 MMcf/d. The expansion at Harrahis expected to be complete and in service by January 2001.

In the midst of this week’s power alerts exacerbated byCalifornia’s shortage of electric generating capacity, theSacramento Municipal Utility District drew only three responses toa proposal put out for bids early in the summer to have a developerbuild, own and operate a natural gas-fired 500 to 1,000 MWgeneration plant on part of a 2,000-acre site owned by the nation’slargest municipal utility. The earliest the plant would beoperational would be in 2004.

Allegheny Energy Supply, UGI to Market Power

Allegheny Energy Supply Co. LLC upped its total generatingcapacity to nearly 10,000 MW after setting up a joint venture withUGI Development to expand and market generation output fromfacilities at UGI’s Hunlock Creek generating station nearWilkes-Barre, PA. Part of the deal gives Allegheny Energy Supplyaccess to 46 MW to sell into the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Marylandmarket.

Transportation Notes

Florida Gas Transmission has reduced the Maximum AllowableOperating Pressure (MAOP) of its 22-inch mainline downstream ofStation 4. As a result, capacity through Station 4 will drop to 160MMcf/d effective today. The pressure cut is in response to a linebreak last month near Station 4 (see Daily GPI, d20000623j.html”>June23), a spokesman said. FGT still had an Overage Alert Day noticeissued last Wednesday (see Daily GPI, July13) in effect Monday until further notice.
