Both the overall number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects that ultimately are built and the total volumes of LNG exported may be significantly less than once projected for the United States, experts said Tuesday at the LDC Gas Forum Mid-Continent in Chicago.

Although its profits fell while production grew, Southwestern Energy Co. said its drilling programs in both the Fayetteville and Marcellus shales remain profitable. But the Houston-based company also plans to divert $50 million in midstream capital toward ventures in the Brown Dense formation and the Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin.

Results of core and petrophysical analyses from a well on Quebec’s Anticosti Island are “encouraging,” according to Corridor Resources Inc. and Petrolia Inc., which hold leases covering more than 1.5 million acres on the island.
