Dry natural gas production in the United States, boosted by stronger pipeline flows from the Marcellus Shale, led Goldman Sachs analysts on Monday to revise their forecasts down for prices and lift expectations for end-of-summer storage levels.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. executive Robert Douglas Lawler, 46, was tapped Monday to helm Chesapeake Energy Corp., bringing with him a wealth of exploration and production (E&P) experience when he takes over as CEO on June 17.

Denver-based DCP Midstream Partners LP announced a $626 million dropdown from DCP Midstream of an additional 47% interest in its Eagle Ford joint venture, bringing its ownership to 80%. It’s the largest dropdown in the history of the partnership.

Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s U.S.-focused natural gas production is forecast to drop by 7% in 2013, bringing “to an end our likely unprecedented public company record of 23 consecutive years of gas production growth,” CEO Aubrey McClendon said during an earnings conference call last week.
