Marathon Acquires Piceance Basin Acreage for $354M

Marathon Oil Corp. on Thursday bought 8,700 net acres of natural gas-weighted properties in the Piceance Basin of Colorado in a cash transaction valued at $354 million. The acreage, acquired from Petroleum Development Corp. (PDC), is located in Garfield County in the Greater Grand Valley Field Complex, which is flanked by, and on-trend with, adjacent Marathon production.

Arcapita Buys 90% Stake in Falcon, Funds Storage Expansions

Falcon Gas Storage announced Wednesday that GAStorage Investment LLC, a company organized by Arcapita, a global investment group, has bought a 90% equity stake in Falcon and has provided additional capital to complete the construction Falcon’s gas storage facilities. The total value of the initial transaction is $100 million.

Comstock Buys 120 Bcfe of Proved Gulf Coast Reserves

Comstock Resources Inc. said it bought about 120 Bcfe of gas (57%) and oil reserves in Louisiana, East Texas and Mississippi from EnSight Energy Partners LP for $192.5 million. The transaction provides about 20 MMcfe/d of production from 240 active wells, 90 of which Comstock will operate. The deal is expected to close in May.

Enterprise’s Mont Belvieu Expansion to Increase Rockies Production

Just days after Enterprise Products Partners LP bought the remaining stake in its partnership from El Paso Corp., the company said it will begin beefing up its existing natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionator at the Mont Belvieu complex by 15,000 bbl/d to a total of 225,000 bbl/d, as part of a plan to pump up production from the prolific Rocky Mountain basins.

Western Adds 60 Bcf of CBM Reserves in San Juan for $82M

Western Gas Resources said it bought about 60 Bcf of proved gas reserves in the San Juan Basin on about 24,000 net acres from an undisclosed seller for $82.2 million. The property currently has about 100 coalbed methane (CBM) wells that are producing 12.6 MMcf/d (9.3 MMcf/d net).
