Only Western Canada Avoids Overall Price Softness

Except for flat to slightly higher numbers in Western Canada and El Paso’s Bondad pool, prices continued to slip at nearly all points Friday. Cooling load remained fairly high throughout most of the southern third of the U.S., but that was overcome by forecasts of little more than warm weather in northern market areas, the previous day’s drop of 6.8 cents by September futures and the usual weekend decline of industrial demand.

Milder Weather Trends Push Prices Lower

Only an advance of less than a dime by El Paso’s Bondad pool in San Juan Basin averted an across-the-board sweep of falling prices Friday. Quotes were pressured lower by dwindling heating load in the East, the previous day’s screen drop of 6 cents and the slump in industrial demand that typically accompanies a weekend trading period.

Transportation Notes

El Paso extended the bid period for its Bondad Expansion Project (see Daily GPI, Nov. 13) through Dec. 6. The deadline previously had been set for this Friday. The pipeline said the extension was made to accommodate customers who are interested in this expansion and who are also subject to the receipt point election process on El Paso. The results of that process will be available Dec. 2.

Transportation Notes

It appears that repairs to the pig launcher on Line 1218 downstream of Bondad (CO) Station may not be necessary after all, El Paso said. Therefore, a shutdown of the line that had been scheduled for today (see Daily GPI, Aug. 31) has been canceled.
