AGL Offers Capacity at Jefferson Island Storage, Plans Expansion

AGL Resources’ Jefferson Island Storage & Hub (JISH) said it is taking bids on 1.1 million Dth of firm storage capacity that will be available starting April 1, 2007 at its 7.2 MMDth salt dome gas storage facility in Erath, LA, near the Henry Hub. The company also is testing the market for interest in a fourth storage cavern at the facility that would be in service in 2011.

Sempra LNG Sets Open Season for Expansion of Baja Terminal

San Diego-based Sempra Energy’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit announced Monday it will hold an open season for nonbinding bids for capacity in what could be up to a 1.5 Bcf/d expansion of the company’s Energia Costa Azul LNG receiving terminal now under construction.

ANR’s Phase I Expansion Bids Surpass Target; Phase II Open Season Begins

ANR Pipeline Co. on Monday said bids for 17 Bcf of capacity have been awarded for Phase I of a storage enhancement project in Michigan, which surpassed its target of 13 Bcf. The El Paso Corp. subsidiary is expanding existing storage fields and developing new fields, all in Michigan, under a plan unveiled last November (see Daily GPI, Nov. 17, 2005).

AGL Seeks Storage Service Bids at Jefferson Island Storage & Hub

Due to expiring contracts, Atlanta-based AGL Resources announced Tuesday it is soliciting bids for firm and interruptible natural gas storage services that will be available in early 2006 at the company’s Pivotal Energy Development Jefferson Island Storage & Hub (JISH), a salt cavern storage facility in Louisiana.

Vector Plans Open Season for Mainline Expansion

Vector Pipeline LP will hold a non-binding open season beginning Sept. 1 through Sept. 30 for bids on firm capacity for a 2006 mainline expansion project for the natural gas transmission pipeline. The 349-mile pipeline system, which was constructed in 2000, currently transports approximately 1 Bcf/d and has the ability to increase this capacity up to 1.5 Bcf/d by constructing additional compressor stations.

Marathon Oil Corp. is soliciting offers for subsidiary Pennaco Energy Inc.’s extensive coalbed methane (CBM) assets in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming and Montana. The producer paid $500 million for the Denver-based company in 2000 (see NGI, April 30, 2001).

North Coast Finds Interested Buyers with Below-Market Bids

Appalachian producer North Coast Energy said it has received several proposals from third parties interested in buying the company, but at prices lower than where its stock has been trading since its announcement in April that it was examining its strategic alternatives. North Coast shares (NCEB) fell nearly 11% on the news Tuesday morning to $12.12.

Mexican Energy Concerns Expected to Bid for MSCs in Burgos Basin

Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) expects more competition when it tenders the bids for Cuervito, another natural gas field in the prolific Burgos Basin. The winner of the Cuervito multiple service contract (MSC) is expected to be announced within two weeks.
