The City Council of Auburn, NY, voted Thursday to stop accepting wastewater generated from hydraulic fracturing (fracking) at natural gas wells, ending more than a decade of the practice and eliminating a major source of revenue for the city.

Low Prices Just Too Tempting; April Scores Double-Digit Gain

April natural gas futures rose Monday as end-users took advantage of sub-$4 pricing and discounted forecasts calling for milder if not unseasonably warm temperatures. At the close April had gained 11.8 cents to $3.927 and May rose 9.7 cents to $3.984. April crude oil added $1.02 to $105.44/bbl.

GMX Resources Adds Oily Bakken, Niobrara Reserves

GMX Resources Inc. (GMXR) said it has branched out from its Haynesville/Bossier natural gas-directed properties, collecting about 67,724 net acres within the core horizontal oil development areas of the Bakken/Sanish-Three Forks Formation in the Williston Basin and the Niobrara Formation in the Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin.

Range Marks 32nd Quarter of Production Growth

Unconventional play-focused Range Resources Corp. charted record quarterly production in 4Q2010 with an average of 541 MMcfe/d, an 18% jump from the year-ago period and an 8% increase from the previous quarter, the company said.

El Paso will be working on the Gallup C Station scrubber filters Dec. 1-2. From an estimated base of 2,880 MMcf/d for San Juan Basin and San Juan Mainline, capacity will be reduced by 295 MMcf/d each day, the pipeline said.

Southern Union Co.’s Trunkline Gas Co. has signed a precedent agreement with DCP Midstream LLC to provide long-term, firm transportation service for liquids-rich gas. DCP Midstream will be the anchor shipper on a modified portion of the Trunkline system in South Texas focusing on Eagle Ford Shale production.
