Northwest Energy Coalition Criticizes Environmental Group

A business-labor coalition in the Pacific Northwest has lashed out at environmental organization Columbia Riverkeeper (CRK) for allegedly working covertly in a recent anti-liquefied natural gas (LNG) local election. CRK’s work supposedly led to the narrow recall of one of five members of the Clatsop County (OR) Commission, a majority of which has supported building an LNG receiving terminal along the Columbia River.

Former Quest Resource CEO, CFO Sued for Embezzlement

The former CEO and former CFO of Quest Resource Corp. last week were sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for allegedly siphoning millions of dollars from the Oklahoma City-based producer. Separately a federal grand jury in Oklahoma City issued a criminal indictment against the CFO.

Bradwood Landing LNG Backers Lash Back at Critics

Calling out one of its opponents for allegedly making misleading claims, the backers of the proposed Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal along the Columbia River in Oregon pushed back Friday to say the project is not threatened in any way by a state-level permitting snag. The NorthernStar Natural Gas Corp. project remains on track and on schedule, a spokesperson told NGI.

Lawsuit Accuses Amaranth of Defrauding Market, Seeks Damages

A lawsuit has been filed against the liquidated hedge fund Amaranth Advisors LLC in a federal court in New York to recover damages for allegedly perpetrating a fraud on the natural gas futures market prior to the company’s collapse in September 2006.
