Seneca Curtails Marcellus Output, Delays Well Completions

Seneca Resources Corp., the exploration and production (E&P) arm of National Fuel Gas Co., has curtailed some Marcellus Shale production, is delaying some well completion activities there and possibly may not participate in some joint venture wells with partner EOG Resources Inc. because of low natural gas prices, the company said Monday.

Teak Midstream LLC is building more than 200 miles of natural gas gathering and residue delivery pipelines and an adjoining 200 MMcf/d cryogenic gas processing plant in South Texas to better serve producers operating in the Eagle Ford Shale, the Dallas-based company said Tuesday.

Three of the top four natural gas marketers reported volume declines compared with the year-ago period, and 24 leading companies had total sales transactions of 123.44 Bcf/d in 2Q2011, a 3.50 Bcf/d (3%) decrease from the 126.94 Bcf/d they transacted in 2Q2010, according to NGI’s 2Q2011 Top North American Gas Marketers Ranking.

LNG Tapped to Gas Up Haynesville Trucks

Encana Corp.’s Encana Natural Gas Inc. plans to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel fleet vehicles in the Haynesville Shale. It will source the LNG from Pivotal LNG, a unit of AGL Resources, Inc., Pivotal said Monday.

Air Group Claims Barnett Emissions Costing Industry

The value of fugitive natural gas and condensate air emissions in the Barnett Shale of North Texas is about $52 million a year, according to research paid for by a clean air group, which asserts that “simple air pollution control devices” would capture this lost revenue if they were installed in the nine-county nonattainment area around Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW).
