Houston-based independent Swift Energy Co. has increased its 2003 capital budget by 15%, or $20 million, to accommodate additional development drilling, facility upgrades and initial 3-D seismic work in fields located in Louisiana and New Zealand.

Mackenzie Delta Groups Preparing Pipe Applications

The Mackenzie Delta Producers Group and the Mackenzie Valley Aboriginal Pipeline Corp. (MVAPC) announced their intent last week to begin preparing regulatory applications leading to the development of the delta’s onshore natural gas resources, including a long-awaited pipeline. As envisioned, the pipe would be anchored by nearly 6 Tcf at the Taglu, Parsons Lake and Niglintgak gas fields, and would be accessible to other existing and future natural gas discoveries in the Mackenzie Delta and Mackenzie Valley regions.

CMS to Double Capacity at Lake Charles LNG Facility

CMS Trunkline LNG said it intends to nearly double the sendout capacity of its Lake Charles, LA, facility to 1.2 Bcf/d from 630 MMcf/d to accommodate a substantial increase in LNG imports, particularly by BG LNG Services, which signed a 22-year contract in May for all of the existing capacity at the Lake Charles terminal. Under the $150-200 million expansion plan, CMS would add a second unloading dock, a fourth storage tank and additional pumps and vaporizers.

Entergy and GE Strike $1.9 Billion Turbine Deal

Attempting to better accommodate the burgeoning Gulf Coast powerdemand, Entergy Corp. spent $1.9 billion to purchase 24 GE 7FAadvanced technology gas turbines and four steam turbines from GE,Entergy said yesterday. Delivery is scheduled through 2004.
