Open Season Planned for Caledonia Storage Expansion

Houston-based Enstor Inc., a unit of Spain’s Iberdrola SA, will begin accepting binding bids for firm storage capacity at its Caledonia Gas Storage Field in northeast Mississippi, the company said Wednesday. Bidding will begin Aug. 6 and close at 5 p.m. CDT on Aug. 20.

Polar Bears Declared Endangered; Harm to Economy ‘Limited’

Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne announced last Wednesday that he was accepting the recommendation of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to list the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), a move he said would protect the bears “while limiting the unintended harm to the society and economy of the United States.”

The long-awaited Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) was accepting nominations today Friday for initial deliveries Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, starting up initial operations of the massive pipeline from the fastest growing U.S. supply region. The pipeline eventually will stretch nearly 1,700 miles to points East across the country.

Cheyenne Plains took system flows to zero Monday after experiencing a “facility outage” at Cheyenne Plains Compressor Station during the weekend. It is not accepting nominations for deliveries to either CIG or Wyoming Interstate Co. until further notice.
