Palomar Pipeline Backers Slow Permit Process

In the wake of the NorthernStar Natural Gas bankruptcy filing and abandonment of its FERC-permitted Bradwood Landing liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in northwest Oregon, industry observers see the proposed Palomar natural gas pipeline, which had a potential connection with Bradwood, as perhaps the next gas project domino to fall in the Pacific Northwest. However, Palomar officials told NGI last Wednesday that the project is still alive, but “slowed” in its permitting.

Transportation Notes

Third-party abandonment and removal of the Brazos Block A-20 platform offshore Texas will require Transco to reconfigure and reroute the line that currently boards and departs from the platform. The project is currently scheduled to begin on or about Nov. 14 and is estimated to last for 30 days. During this period, production from the Brazos A-23, A-19 and 544 blocks will not be available for flow to Transco.

FERC Grants PD for Tuscarora Lateral, Approves Northern Abandonment

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) last week issued a favorable preliminary determination on non-environmental grounds to Tuscarora Gas Transmission’s Wadsworth Lateral, a 14.2-mile pipeline extension and associated facilities that would increase Tuscarora’s transportation capacity by 95,912 Dth/d. The lateral would extend from Tuscarora’s mainline in northern Washoe County, NV, to an interconnect with Pauite Pipeline in Nevada.

El Paso’s Bondad Project Hangs in Limbo

FERC last week vacated its August order certificating El PasoNatural Gas Co.’s planned expansion of its 33-mile Bondad system, amove that the pipeline says puts the troubled project in anuncertain status.
