Gas and Power to Remain Locked in Volatile Dance, Says Analyst

Between now and November 2008, natural gas prices are expected to remain within a $5-10 band, according to Pace Global Energy Services. However, developments in the power and gas sectors suggest excursions from that trend could range from a low of $2.50 to a high of $20/MMBtu, said Art Holland, Pace director of power and forecasting. Such wide travel in prices is quite unlikely but possible, he said.

Lawmakers Seek to Cut Off Funding for DOE Corridor Designations

A bipartisan group of House lawmakers last Thursday called on an appropriations subcommittee chairman to insert language in the fiscal year 2008 spending bill that would bar the Department of Energy (DOE) from using federal funds to designate two National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors (NIETC) in the Mid-Atlantic and Southwest regions of the country.

PG&E Reaches Settlement on Gas Transportation, Storage

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. late Friday announced it had reached a settlement with all parties on natural gas transportation and storage costs covering 2008 through 2010. The settlement must be approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and the utility said it expects action before the end of this year.
