Toronto-based Superior Plus Corp. clinched a definitive agreement with Certarus Ltd. to acquire the compressed natural gas (CNG), renewable natural gas (RNG) and hydrogen distributor in a C$1.05 billion ($776.9 million) deal.

After kicking off the year with an announcement that it may offer hydrogen to its commercial and industrial propane customers in Quebec, Superior is closing 2022 with a “highly strategic and transformative transaction…,” said CEO Luc Desjardins.

With 18 distribution hubs and an expected 640 mobile storage units (MSU) by the end of the year across the Lower 48 and Canada, Certarus is the largest on-road low carbon fuels distributor in North America, according to Superior.
