Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Inc. is developing a project to provide incremental deliveries of Midcontinent supplies of up to 100,000 Dth/d to Enogex Inc.’s East Rate Zone near the Perry Compressor Station in Noble County, OK, the company said last week.
The company is conducting a binding open season through 5 p.m. CST Feb. 11 for firm service on the project, called the Perry Delivery Project. Southern Star said it will notify customers as soon as it can of its decision on whether to proceed with the project.
Southern Star’s business development manager Tim Meyer told NGI the project would require about three and a half miles of 16-inch diameter pipeline and about 4,000 hp of new compression at the previously abandoned Perry Compressor Station. Additionally, equipment to remove oxygen from the gas stream also would be required to meet Enogex specifications.
“The Perry Delivery Project will provide an excellent source of Midcontinent natural gas supply for Enogex’s existing customers and for their future customers,” said Southern Star CEO Jerry Morris.

Last year Southern Star held a nonbinding open season for a new interstate pipeline to connect the Fayetteville Shale basin in Central Arkansas to Kinder Morgan’s Rockies Express Pipeline LLC in Audrain County, MO (see NGI, June 18, 2007). Meyer said that while the company received interest from local distribution companies in its Highland Trails Pipeline, there was a lack of producer interest in the project. Highland Trails could go forward as a scaled-down or phased project, Meyer said. Southern Star could make an announcement around mid-year of its decision on Highland Trails, he said.
