In an effort to comply with Executive Order 13123, which statesthat government agencies must cut energy use 30% by 2005 and 35% by2010, based on 1985 emission levels, Goodfellow Air Force Baselocated in San Angelo, TX, has entered a 15-year energy savingsagreement with Sempra Energy Solutions (SES).

After conducting an audit of the base’s current energy usage,SES developed a new engineering design. Now the company willcomplete construction, and monitor it for the duration of thecontract.

As part of the deal, SES will apply water conservationtechniques to toilet and shower water flows. It will upgrademechanical equipment, and update lighting and fixtures in eightbuildings.

The project is expected to save the Air Force base $244,000 ayear in energy consumption costs, and $10,000 more per year infacility maintenance costs.
