Thanks to energy industry deregulation, Sempra Energy Solutions,a Sempra Energy subsidiary, entered into a contract Thursday to actas energy consultant to W.W. Grainger Inc., a leading distributorof maintenance, repair, and operating supplies. “We recognize thatenergy is no longer a one-point, one-choice, one-price service,”said Craig Kozak, real estate project manager for W.W. GraingerInc., “For this reason, we have contracted with Sempra EnergySolutions to assist us through the landscape of today’s competitivemarketplace.”

The Sempra Energy subsidiary will work with Grainger’s internalenergy team to reduce billing errors and rate miscalculations, andachieve the targeted 10 percent energy cost reduction.Throughthis agreement, Grainger will be able to monitor utility cost,ensure that they are receiving the best tariff rate, manage energyusage, and follow trends for 128 facilities in 11 states. Theyalso gain discounted electricity in 38 facilities in Californiathrough the commodity portion of the contract.”There is a lot oftalk about buying and selling electricity, but it is actuallymanaging and ultimately lowering the cost of energy that bringslong-term value to our customers,” said Donald Felsinger, actingpresident of Sempra Energy Solutions.
