Scana, Powertel Jointly Target GA Customers
SCANA Energy and affiliate Powertel, Inc., one of the largestwireless PCS telecommunications providers in the Southeast,announced plans to jointly market their services at 30 kiosklocations in Kroger grocery stores in Greater Atlanta, Macon,Augusta and Savannah beginning today. Powertel will provide thepersonnel for the kiosks locations, which were built and installedby SCANA. Customers will soon be able to sign up for Powertel andSCANA services, make bill payments and receive information on otherservices while shopping at Kroger.
“In addition to sharing marketing costs, this arrangementbroadens Powertel’s reach to Georgia consumers and provides SCANAcustomers with additional service benefits,” said George Devlin,vice president of SCANA Energy.
“Opening on-site locations in Kroger stores is one more way forus to make our services even more convenient for consumers,” notedFloyd Hubbell, vice president of sales for Powertel in Georgia.
SCANA Energy has more than 400,000 natural gas customers inGeorgia and is the largest non-incumbent marketer. The company iswholly owned by SCANA Corp., a Columbia, SC-based energy andtelecommunications firm with more than $5.3 billion in assets.SCANA holds 28% interest in Powertel, Inc.
