Reliant Energy Gas Transmission (REGT) completed installation ofan 18-mile extension of its mainline in East Texas to increase gasdeliveries to Southwestern Electric Power’s (SWEPCO) 882 MW Wilkesgenerating plant, located near Marshall.

The extension project raise deliveries to the plant to 100MMcf/d from 12 MMcf/d under a long term contract with Central andSouth West Corp. subsidiary SWEPCO. The extension started flowinggas earlier this month. The new 16-inch diameter section requiresno extra compression and interconnects with Reliant Energy pipelinefacilities in Harrison, TX.

‘”This project solidifies and expands our relationship ofquality service to CSW,” said Dale C. Earwood, president of ReliantEnergy Pipeline Services and of Reliant Energy InterstatePipelines. “In addition, the pipeline extension increases ourability to provide substantial deliveries on demand at low costover a highly reliable interstate pipeline system.”

Since 1996, REGT has been supplying gas to SWEPCO’s Wilkes plantthrough a low pressure, 8-inch line. REGT supplies three otherSWEPCO plants in the area as well.
