Once again it’s ‘Westward Ho,’ as Questar Pipeline looks to beefup its southern mainline and connect with Williams West (Kern RiverGas Transmission) for deliveries to California.

Questar has announced an open season through Jan. 28, 1999 forletters of interest for the expanded and extended facilities. Theexpanded mainline from Price, UT, to its terminus at the PaysonCitygate station also would allow increased deliveries to Salt LakeCity. An extension would run from Payson to a connection with KernRiver near Elberta, UT.

In addition Questar will seek FERC approval if shippers areinterested in contracting for capacity on interconnecting pipelinesand service to Paiute Pipeline, Pacific Gas Transmission, SouthwestGas and other western markets.

Questar said the open season for new firm capacity was inresponse to shipper interest. “There seems to be a transition,” marketing representative Theresa Harrison said. “There’s enough gasgoing to the Midcontinent; now there’s more interest in going Westrather than East. This also ties in with Kern River’s expansion”and could be completed at the same time. If there is sufficientinterest the new facilities could be in place by the fall of 2000.
