- A floating production, storage and offloading vessel is on its way to the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project operated by BP plc off the coast of Mauritania and Senegal in Africa, according to the company.
- The vessel left a Chinese shipyard last week after three years of construction. Once operational, BP estimates the first phase of the project could produce around 2.3 million metric tons/year.
- Eni SpA and Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach signed framework agreements Monday to study boosting energy exports to Italy and western Europe. The company will also explore investments in renewable energy, decarbonization and hydrogen production.
- The agreements follow comments from Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla that the country will work closely with Eni to boost liquefied natural gas exports. An Italian delegation met with Egypt’s president Jan. 22 to discuss trade and energy.
Nikkiso Co. Ltd., a Japanese speciality equipment manufacturer, is expanding its clean energy and industrial gas unit to Qatar. The firm disclosed it is opening a service center that will focus on supplying and servicing equipment for LNG, ammonia and hydrogen production.
