Portland Natural Gas Transmission System (PNGTS) told the FERCCentral Maine Power Co. (CMP) is off base in its argument againstsiting of construction activity for PNGTS’ Rumford-Jay lateral pipealong a CMP power line corridor. CMP is seeking a stay order fromthe Commission.

CMP wanted pipeline construction equipment placed on the side ofthe trench opposite its power lines. The Federal Energy RegulatoryCommission ordered an alternate alignment, keeping constructionequipment on the trench side adjacent to the power lines. CMPmaintained the order raised safety concerns in a request forrehearing. Subsequently, PNGTS says it and CMP agreed on analignment, filed with the Commission, incorporating changesproposed by CMP. CMP has what it wants, PNGTS says; however, due toa technical matter, CMP’s pending stay motion has not been disposedof.
