Canada’s Pieridae Energy Ltd. announced last week that partner recruitment has begun for a greenhouse gas (GHG) disposal and clean power project in Alberta that would offset emissions from its planned Goldboro liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Nova Scotia.

Pieridae said the new project would repurpose its Caroline natural gas plant in central Alberta for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). The site would also make “blue power” by permanently stowing emissions from gas-fired steam generators underground.

The plan calls for disposing of up to 100 million tons of GHG in 30 years plus annual power production of up to 7.9 billion kWh.
