Larry W. Brummett, chairman and CEO of Tulsa’s ONEOK Inc., diedFriday following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 49. Hebecame CEO, chairman and president of ONEOK in 1994 and under hisdirection, ONEOK had grown from a local natural gas utility companywith assets of $1 billion in 1994 to a diversified natural gascompany with total assets exceeding $5 billion. “Larry was a greatleader and a wonderful friend to all who knew him,” said COO DavidKyle. “It is a tribute to him that we have such a great team ofemployees at ONEOK who will move forward with the focus and visionthat he has set for the company during his years of leadership.”

Rebecca Mark resigned last week as vice chairman of the board ofEnron Corp. and also resigned as Azurix chairman and CEO, accordingto Enron officials. Mark joined Enron in 1982 and joined EnronPower Corp.’s executive management team when the company wasestablished in 1986. She was appointed chairman of EnronDevelopment Corp. in 1991 when that unit was formed to pursue newinternational markets, and became chairman and CEO of EnronInternational in 1996. She had been vice chairman of Enron since1998.

Mark was responsible for the globalization of Enron’sbusinesses, including development activities, constructing andoperating assets and gas and electricity merchant services. She wasinstrumental in moving Enron from a U.S. energy services andpipeline company to a major player in integrated energy businessesaround the world. Azurix is an Enron subsidiary formed in 1998 topursue the global water business.

“Rebecca has made innumerable contributions during her time atEnron,” said CEO Kenneth L. Lay. “Her leadership was instrumentalin building our world class international businesses.”
