Calpine Corp. reported on Friday that it has named Lawrence L. Izzo senior vice president. The company said Izzo will be responsible for technical support and construction of Calpine’s major natural gas pipelines and other gas infrastructure projects, international power projects and coal gasification projects. Izzo recently retired as president and CEO of Enron Engineering and Construction Company (EECC) and its subsidiary, National Energy Production Company (NEPCO). He was responsible for managing Enron’s worldwide engineering and construction operations. During his 11-year career there, Izzo was credited with creating and growing EECC and NEPCO to a 1,000-member international organization, completing many major power projects in domestic and international power markets.

San Diego-based Sempra Energy announced that Joseph A. Householder has joined the company as vice president of corporate tax, overseeing Sempra Energy’s worldwide tax affairs. “He has significant experience with complex international tax issues and will make a valuable contribution to our growth strategy both in the United States and abroad,” said Neal E. Schmale, executive vice president and CFO of Sempra Energy. Householder joins Sempra Energy from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., national tax office.

Denver-based Forest Oil Corp. announced late last week that Richard G. “Gus” Zepernick Jr., its president and COO, will resign at the end of the month to pursue what it reported as “personal interests.” Zepernick was formerly the president and CEO of Forcenergy Inc. and joined Forest Oil at the time of the merger of Forcenergy and Forest in December of last year. Forest Oil said it has commenced a search for an executive to fill the COO position. Forest Oil is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, production and marketing of natural gas and crude oil in the United States in the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana, Texas and Alaska, and in Canada, in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Denver-based Cordillera Energy Partners LLC, a privately-held oil and gas acquisition and development company, reported that three additional officers have been appointed to its management team. Joining the senior management team of Gregory A. Way, vice president of engineering, and Steven C. Foster, vice president of planning and analysis are: Tad R. Herz, vice president, controller and CFO; J. C. Ridens, vice president, operations & exploitation; and Robert A. Seavy, vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel. Cordillera said Herz spent the last 12 years in the accounting department of Apache Corp., most recently as assistant controller. Ridens has 22 years of operations and exploitation experience with Apache Corp., Kerr McGee Corp., Davis Oil Co. and Chevron. Most recently, Ridens served as production manager for Apache Canada Ltd. Seavy has 19 years of experience in both private practice and with oil and gas independents. Prior to joining Cordillera, he represented the company in legal matters since its formation. The company and its subsidiaries own interests in properties in the San Juan Basin, the Anadarko Basin, and the Permian Basin.
