Opal Fuels Inc., a vertically integrated waste-to-energy company focused on renewable natural gas (RNG), saw fuel sales jump in the first half of the year.

During the first six months of the year the White Plains, NY-based company sold 14.3 million gasoline gallon equivalents (GGEs) of transportation fuel, of which 13.1 million GGEs were RNG. This amounted to 68% growth for RNG sales over the 7.8 million GGEs of RNG sold in the first half of 2021.

CFO Ann Anthony previously said Opal’s RNG production volumes are poised to grow to 125 million GGEs by 2024.

Opal captures methane emissions at the source and recycles the trapped energy into an alternative to diesel fuel. The company also develops, constructs, and services RNG and hydrogen fueling stations.
