Northern Oil and Gas Inc. posted record production and earnings during the second quarter, led by Permian Basin activities, as it pursues acquisitions in the Williston Basin and elsewhere.

CEO Nicholas O’Grady told investors during a second quarter conference call the firm saw an across-the-board production increase during the quarter, attributed to mostly organic growth, that allowed it to continue focusing on capital discipline. The Minnesota-based company holds acreage in the Permian, the Marcellus Shale and the Williston.

“With every high commodity cycle comes some new competition, but – in the end – it will be our disciplined, analytical rigor and balance sheet strength that will” set the firm apart in the long term, O’Grady said.
