Before its massive 700 MMcf/d expansion/extension project iseven put in place, Northern Border already is planning to fileanother expansion/extension that would provide shippers with 545MMcf/d of transportation capacity into Indiana markets.

Project 2000 is designed specifically to target markets innorthern Indiana’s industrial zone. It includes a connection toNorthern Indiana Public Service with its large industrial loadrequirement of nearly 300 Bcf/year.

“Project 2000 strategically positions Northern Border to movegas east and places our system in direct contact with majorindustries, including the county’s largest steel mills in northernIndiana, while achieving rate impacts well within the FERC’s policyguideline for rolled-in rates,” said Larry L. DeRoin, chairman ofthe pipeline’s management committee.

The $165 million project would increase capacity by 58 MMcf/d onthe pipeline from Monchy, SK, to Ventura, IA, by 195 MMcf/d in theIowa-Illinois segments and by 545 MMcf/d in an extension to aconnection with NIPSCO at North Hayden, IN.
