Nicor and Dynegy Inc. have begun construction on a 250 MWgas-fired, peak-demand power generation facility in the Village ofEast Dundee, IL. The two companies said they plan to market theelectricity generated at the Rocky Road Power facility in thewholesale market to investor-owned utilities, electric cooperativesand municipalities when commercial operations get underway thissummer.

The plant is being constructed on an 18-acre site bordering onKane and Cook counties. The simple-cycle facility will use naturalgas delivered through the Nicor system as fuel to generateelectricity, and will be operated to meet demand as needed, the twocompanies said.

This marks the first power generation project jointly developedby Dynegy and Nicor, with each having a 50% interest. It is part ofthe strategic alliance that the companies announced last July topursue wholesale generation and cogeneration projects in sixMidwest states.
