Nexen topped the rankings of gas purchasers/marketers in a new customer satisfaction survey based on 300 interviews with gas producers by Missouri-based Mastiogale. Other top buyers that exceeded the industry benchmark were BP, ConocoPhillips, Shell Energy Trading and Corpus Christi-based marketer Shoreline Gas.
Mastiogale based the ranking on ratings by producers on 26 “producer satisfaction attributes,” including creditworthiness, prompt payment within terms, problem solving, knowledge of personnel, competitive prices, overall performance and likelihood of getting a favorable recommendation. The study also asked several open-ended questions including the following: “If you could change one thing about each of your buyers besides price what would it be?”
Mastiogale said the most important issues for producers have changed little since its previous study — this is its sixth edition. The most important issues to gas producers are: 1) prompt payment within terms; 2) creditworthiness; and 3) reliability in taking all gas volumes purchased.
