Like many European buyers hungry for natural gas since Russia cut supplies significantly, Dutch transmission system operator NV Nederlandse Gasunie is exploring options to increase LNG import capacity to meet future demand. 

But “no gas shortage is foreseen for this winter,” Gasunie spokesperson Marie-Lou Gregoire told NGI, based on the success of previous research on LNG capacity expansions by Gasunie Transport Services.

That could also be the case for future winters, Gregoire added. “Hence, Gasunie has made the recommendation to the Dutch government to increase imports of LNG into the Netherlands.”
