Artera Services LLC, which provides natural gas and electric industry infrastructure services across 34 states, has an agreement to acquire pipeline contractor Otis Eastern Services LLC.

Atlanta-based Artera, renamed earlier this month, employs more than 8,500 people throughout the country. PowerTeam Services LLC earlier this month changed the name of the company following its acquisition in April of Miller Pipeline and Minnesota Ltd.

“This combination with Otis Eastern provides Artera an opportunity to expand our geographic territory and sustain the existing long-term relationships with their customers,” said Artera CEO  Brian Palmer.

Financial details were not disclosed.

The Otis takeover is designed to expand Artera’s position as a leader in the infrastructure services industry. Artera maintains, repairs and builds infrastructure for natural gas and power distribution/transmission companies through KS Energy Services, Miller Pipeline, Minnesota Ltd., Southeast Connections, Volt Power and Hydro-X.

“Otis Eastern is a highly complementary fit with a shared commitment to safety and to high quality, reliable services to its customer base, with a focus on recurring maintenance and repair work on existing infrastructure,” Palmer said.

Wellsville, NY-based Otis, which employs about 600 people, serves customers across seven states. It provides pipeline services for midstream utilities throughout the Northeast and in Appalachia.

Otis CEO Casey Joyce would continue to manage day-to-day operations. The plan is for Otis to  maintain its headquarters in Wellsville.
