Port Fourchon, a logistics hub near Leeville, LA, serving the Gulf of Mexico oil and natural gas industry, plans to expand its use of advanced marine emissions monitoring technology, facility owner and operator Greater Lafourche Port Commission (GLPC) reported earlier this month.

GLPC has partnered with SailPlan, a maritime transportation emissions tracking firm, to deploy monitoring technology throughout the port. SailPlan’s platform would measure direct and indirect emissions and air quality data throughout the complex and its environs under the collaboration, the port authority added.

SailPlan began monitoring emissions via a network of sensors on a relatively limited basis during the spring, GLPC’s executive director Chett Chiasson told NGI.
