The idea of using the Mexican Pacific coast as an export platform for LNG from Waha has been around for a while. 

The interest in this route lies in the reduction of distances, time and costs in bringing cheap U.S. natural gas to Asian countries. Despite the ongoing construction of 5.7 Bcf/d of incremental capacity of new liquefaction trains at Corpus Christi, Plaquemines and Golden Pass, the growing demand for natural gas in China, Southwest Asia and even India has opened new opportunities for the development of these projects.
