Trinidad’s Energy Minister Eric Williams told Reuters New Service this week that Trinidad and Tobago is considering investing in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in the United States. He did not say whether an existing or proposed terminal was being considered. Trinidad is the largest supplier of LNG to the United States. The Atlantic LNG joint venture, which includes The National Gas Company of Trinidad, BP, BG Group, Repsol and Tractebel, currently has three LNG supply trains operating and a fourth under construction. Trinidad and Tobago produces about 2.8 Bcf/d currently, and the government expects output to rise to about 3 Bcf/d by the end of the year.

The National Energy Board has planned a public hearing on an application from TransCanada PipeLines for approval to establish a new receipt and delivery point and corresponding tolls for service at North Bay, ON. The board will conduct a hearing on Aug. 9 at a location to be announced at a later date. Last November, the board identified a number of broader toll design issues that should be considered jointly with the North Bay Junction application. It then decided to stay the processing of the North Bay Junction application until such time as TransCanada filed sufficient information to address the broader toll design issues. In March, TransCanada updated its North Bay Junction application and applied for approval of the new receipt and delivery point, corresponding tolls and services, and to remove North Bay from the existing Northern Delivery Area. Letters of comment are due by June 10. Interventions are due May 5. For a copy of Hearing Order RH-3-2004 call the NEB at (403) 299-3562.
