How is LNG made?

LNG is made by chilling natural gas to minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit. Specialized units, known as liquefaction trains, make LNG by employing equipment to shrink gas in a series of processes. LNG plants often have more than one train. Train size at lage onshore base load plants has continued increasing with a standard unit typically capable of producing about 4 million metric tons/year. Trains also manufacture LNG in smaller quantities for transport via road or rail.
