A deepwater-capable marine terminal recently commissioned in the Port of Houston could become a key Gulf Coast hydrogen and low-carbon ammonia hub, according to the joint venture (JV) partners.

The Vopak Moda Houston LLC project by JV partners Royal Vopak and Moda Midstream is In the heart of the Houston area’s petrochemicals complex near ammonia, hydrogen and nitrogen pipelines. The terminal is designed to handle very large gas carriers, smaller vessels and barges.

“In today’s world, supply chains must be resilient and sustainable,” said Moda CEO Jon Ackerman. “With the ability to safely and reliably transport ammonia and other pressurized gases for our current and future customers, Vopak Moda Houston is a vital link in the new energy transition supply chain.”
